Twelve Years Ago Tonight

Twelve Years Ago Tonight

Twelve years ago tonight, I was a different person. I was a soon to be mother, a wife, a daughter, and a teacher. I was a friend to some, but not very close to anyone in particular. I was new to this neighborhood and didn’t really know a soul.

Twelve years ago tonight, I was in labor with my first child – a boy. Who knew this boy would change my life so immensely. Funny how a child, a baby can help develop new responsibilities, new experiences, and new relationships. Who knew that this baby would bring me true friendships?

Twelve years ago tonight, I couldn’t have imagined mini-van rides, summer field trips to potato chip factories, backyard sprinklers, and bagel bite luncheons. I couldn’t have imagined neighborhood stroller parades, sandboxes & swing sets, Easter egg hunts, and Christmas celebrations. What did I know of daycare and cubbies and mom’s night out?

Twelve years ago tonight, who would have guessed that tonight I would be missing cuddling up to my little baby boy as he fell asleep in my arms? Who would have guessed that tonight I would be missing those “mommy” friends whose daily conversations got me through each day, but I rarely get to talk to anymore? Who would have guessed that tonight I would be missing those ordinary, yet extraordinary times of my life?

Wow, I have a blog!

After reading several blogs on the internet over the past two years, I thought I'd try my own. Summer is almost here and I have a lot I'd like to accomplish. I might try to publish them here as I work on them. In my next post I will post my goals.
